Pepe Gavilondo – Frame

Frame of Pepe Gavilondo, Cuban composer, pianist, producer and improviser. He is a specialist in Classical Music at Fábrica de Arte Cubano, and director of the Interactive Ensemble of Havana (EIH).

He was born in Havana and graduated in Composition from the Higher Institute of Art, but this work is not inspired by his compositions or his career as a performer, but rather by the magic of a group that I would say has created with blood and tears and that remains vibrant in the very limited contemporary music scene that is produced and consumed in Cuba at the moment. This group named Ensamble Interactivo de La Habana is a family and experimentation workshop, all are young musicians that Pepe has been coordinating and emancipating through his ideas. The colors, the timbres, the voices and the small sounds that any object produces are the backbone of this gypsy camp that came out in the first instance from Pepe’s demons, and that circulates from time to time in a city park.
